Ascott opens new hotel in Sudirman area

T

he Ascott Limited has officially opened Somerset Sudirman Jakarta, located in one of Jakarta’s most exciting areas, Bendungan Hilir, which is surrounded by upscale restaurants and shopping malls.

“At Somerset Sudirman Jakarta, there are apartments that support flexible work arrangements. Facilities such as the barbeque pits allow guests to spend quality time with their families and friends. We also cater to the young ones with various child-friendly facilities such as an outdoor children’s playground. As travel gradually recovers, visitors to the dynamic city of Jakarta can look forward to a home-away-from-home experience and world-class services in our well-located serviced residence,” said Philip Lim, the company’s country general manager.

In addition to its close proximity to Jakarta’s most popular malls such as Plaza Senayan and Senayan City, it is also close to the Mintohardjo Navy Hospital and is a 30-minute drive from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.

The new building offers 177 units ranging from hotel rooms to studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments. Each unit features a fully equipped kitchen, a balcony, en-suite bathroom, living area, flat-screen TV and complimentary unlimited Wi-Fi. Select apartments can also be converted into a private workspace if needed.

Other facilities include a fitness corner, swimming pool, children’s playground, residents’ lounge, jacuzzi, sauna, barbeque area, jogging track, meeting rooms and a launderette.

To book a room, guests can easily access discoverasr.com, an online platform launched in July that unifies all of Ascott’s award-winning lodging brands, making it easy for travelers to book any properties belonging to the company.

“Ascott continues to see strong demand from property owners and customers in Indonesia, our second-largest market after China. Ascott has been in Indonesia for 26 years and our properties have performed well under our award-winning brands such as Ascott the Residence, Somerset Serviced Residence, Citadines Apart’hotel, HARRIS and Vertu,” said Ascott managing director for Southeast Asia, Wong Kar Ling.

“We continue to expand our presence in Indonesia. In 2021, through management and franchise contracts, we have added about 1,600 units in nine properties to our portfolio. With the opening of Somerset Sudirman Jakarta, we have also opened more than 1,700 units in nine properties in Indonesia this year. We aim to open more than 30 properties over the next two years.”

In 2022, Ascott is slated to open Somerset Asia Afrika Bandung in West Java, Citadines Gatot Subroto Jakarta, Citadines Sudirman Jakarta, Shanaya Resort Malang in East Java, Fox Lite Hotel Grogol, FOX Lite Hotel Majalaya Bandung, FOX Lite Hotel Samarinda in East Kalimantan and POP! Hotel Pekanbaru, Riau.

The Ascott Limited was recently recognized as the Leading Serviced Apartment Brand in Asia, Europe, Oceania and the Middle East at the prestigious 2021 World Travel Awards. It is one of the largest international owners and operators of serviced residences and hotels in Indonesia. It has over 80 operating properties and more than 13,000 units across more than 20 cities in the country.

Its integrated website is not the only new innovation launched by Ascott; it is also the first hospitality company in the world to offer guests complimentary global access to a comprehensive suite of telehealth, telecounseling and travel security advisory services. In collaboration with International SOS, the services are part of its enhanced Ascott Cares commitment to providing stringent hygiene and safety standards and wellness support and implementing sustainable practices. It was launched in May.
