Bank Indonesia (BI) communications head Erwin Haryono said people were now more comfortable using QRIS as a daily payment channel. Banks including BNI also continue to aggressively expand QRIS acceptance to support a massive increase in cashless and cardless transactions.
“We need to highlight that the Ramadan and Idul Fitri periods of 2022 will be much more festive compared to the previous two years of this pandemic. Of course, this will generate more transactions, especially with the stronger QRIS,” he said.
BNI president director Royke Tumilaar is optimistic that the Ramadan and Idul Fitri period will be the best opportunity for doubling QRIS transactions. BNI is continuously expanding the number of merchants that accept QRIS BNI Mobile Banking while supporting the QRIS for a Developed Indonesia campaign from Bank Indonesia.
“In the first quarter of 2022, BNI acquired more than 1.6 million QRIS merchants, with BNI's QRIS transaction volume reaching Rp 297 billion [US$20.68 million]. Their readiness to accept is expected to encourage more people to rely on cashless and cardless QRIS transactions as their main method of transactions on a daily basis. Through the convenience of QQRIS BNI Mobile Banking, which simply requires you to scan and go. It provides a comfortable, safe, quick and practical experience for customers,” he said.
Apart from educating customers, BNI also offers attractive promotions at various favorite merchants, such as free pudding or ice cream for payment transactions with QRIS BNI Mobile Banking at KFC every Monday and special discounts every 25th of each month.
BNI also provides attractive cashback and buy-one-get-one promotions at Chatime, Gindaco and Cupbop. Furthermore, the bank also gives customer discounts at various grocery merchants during the month of Ramadan, especially micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) to promote the use of QRIS BNI Mobile Banking in non-metropolitan areas.
