The implementation of the Smart Province system and the digitalization of public services have become more crucial in establishing the transparency of regional financial transactions as well as integrating financial management in order to optimize regional income.
Digitalization is expected to encourage the development of public digital payment, realize financial inclusion and increase economic integration and national digital finance.
PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. or BNI (stock code: BBNI) is a pioneer in digital banking. It recently collaborated with the North Sulawesi provincial government in the use of banking service facilities and the Smart Province Program. On this occasion, BNI also cooperated with PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Sulawesi Utara and Gorontalo (Bank SulutGo) in terms of institutional cooperation.
The signing was carried out by North Sulawesi Governor Oll Dondokambey and BNI president director Royke Tumilaar. This was followed by an agreement between Bank Sulut Go president director Revino Pepah and BNI vice president director Adi “Susi” Sulistyowati in Manado on Tuesday.
In accordance with its corporate social responsibility (CSR) commitments, BNI also handed over a waste processing machine and granted the Smart Province Cooperation designation to North Sulawesi – garnering an Indonesian World Records Museum (MURI) record for the Smart City with the most facility components for a local government.
Revino said Bank SulutGo was encouraged to seize the opportunity to increase its regional economic growth through innovations and a wider digital access for customers in Sulawesi.
“We appreciate BNI for opening collaboration opportunities with us. Of course, this will be Bank SulutGo’s moment to accelerate its digital transformation and provide a new value proposition for our customers,” he said.
Royke said the implementation of the Smart Province was a part of BNI’s support to transform 100 cities and regencies into smart cities. Through synergy with Bank SulutGo, BNI believes it can support the local government’s financial governance and economic development in North Sulawesi.
The move aims to guide regencies and cities in preparing smart city master plans to maximize the use of technology, both in improving public services and realizing the potential of every region.
“BNI is committed to supporting the acceleration of digitalization and services to be more effective, efficient and transparent, while also adding value for the entire community, especially the people of North Sulawesi,” he said.
Royke said BNI promised to bring together various stakeholders to build a smart ecosystem with a wider scope, encompassing government, businesses and customers.
BNI will also assist the implementation of Smart Government for information management solutions for local government financial systems, solutions for receiving various types of taxes or income and payment solutions.
The smart ecosystem will also include market, agricultural, fishing and village-owned business (BUMDES) ecosystems, as well as the BNI Xpora program to support MSMEs in their effort to go global.
BNI Xpora unlocks the potential of Indonesian MSMEs through the export ecosystem in order to develop the businesses and through business matching with the diaspora through seven branch offices in New York, London, Singapore, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Amsterdam and Seoul.
“BNI also has a smart society that includes the tourism, health and education ecosystem. Lastly, we have a smart environment system that includes a ‘let’s save with waste’ program and proper waste management system to increase value,” he added.
