T

he Badan Pengusahaan (BP) Batam honored eight foreign companies and two inspirational figures at the at the 2022 Investment awards event which took place in Batam on Oct. 26 in conjunction with the 51st Bhakti Day of BP Batam.

The celebration had the theme of “51 years of Batam, continuously working.” It was chosen to reflect the tirelessness of BP Batam and the promise to keep working under any circumstances. This was a real commitment from BP Batam to continue to make positive contributions at both regional and national levels.

Moreover, the celebration also served as an anniversary of BP Batam and a chance to look back at its contribution to the city, in terms of infrastructure and policies that support the growth of the investment climate in Batam. More than 500 foreign companies invested in Batam in 2021, a number that increases every year, from the addition of new companies and established companies that are expanding.

Therefore, the 2022 investment awards were held as a form of gratitude to foreign companies investing in Batam, who have participated in driving the economy both regionally and nationally. In total, there were 10 categories.

The two awards for influential figures went to Mike Wiluan for Inspiring Digital Creator and Hartono for Best Innovative Developer. As for the companies that were honored, PT Toyo Kanetsu Indonesia won Best Compliance in Investment Report, PT Asia Cocoa Indonesia won Foreign Company with the Highest Exports and the Foreign Company with the Highest Investment Realization award went to PT Schneider Electric Manufacturing Batam.

Furthermore, Best Manufacturing Company went to PT Caterpillar Indonesia Batam, PT McDermott Indonesia won Best Oil and Gas & Marine Company, PT Infineon Technologies Batam was named Best Industry 4.0, PT Shimano Batam won Best Social Security for Workers, and PT Nusatama Property Panbil was given the Best Green industrial Estate award.

"Hopefully by giving this, they will build their trust in us, especially Batam City. So that they can increase their investment in Batam City, and tell outsiders that it is very good to invest in Batam," said Muhammad Rudi, Chairman of BP Batam.

In the future BP Batam will continue to be enthusiastic about building and developing Batam into an investment haven for Indonesia and the world. This requires the support of all stakeholders in Batam to make it happen.
