inger Judika and a lineup of rising artists pleased the audience at newly opened Aryanusa Ballroom of Menara Danareksa Jakarta on Feb. 17, 2023 with energetic and invigorating songs in the live concert “A New Beginning of Menara Danareksa with Judika”.
The long-awaited singer Judika surprised the audience by secretly entering the room from the door on the left side instead of from the stage. Initially, the crowd set their eyes on the dimly lit stage where musicians played the intro to Judika’s hit, “Jikalau Kau Cinta” (If You Love). They were not aware of the singer’s sudden appearance until they heard him singing the song from amid the audience. Judika, illuminated with spotlights, shook the hands of enthusiastic and cheerful members of the audience while walking toward the stage.
At times, he stopped singing and directed the microphone that he held to the fans, who having memorized the lyrics well, spontaneously sang part of the refrain of Judika’s hit, “Sampai Kau Jadi Milikku” (Until You Become Mine) loudly. The riff started with the rhythmic “Whoa…Ooh..Whoa..Ooh..” The riff is, surely, Judika’s popular hallmark.
The concert showcased how Judika could connect with the crowd by talking to them between songs, which developed intimacy with his fans. “My next song is about how I struggled for my love,” he told the audience.
“It has taken six and half years to win true love from the beloved one who has now become mother of my children. I am grateful to God for I have won the love. Although it was very tough, I could finally win the love and created a song, which could become a blessing and serve as a cheerleader for my friends who are struggling to win love and have not got a blessing from parents,” he said to thunderous applause.
Judika demonstrated his wide vocal range by presenting Batak and Javanese songs, including “Ojo Dibandengke” (Don’t Compare), a song that has led to 12-year-old Farel Prayoga going viral after singing it at the Presidential Palace. The audience joyfully danced to the beat of the song.
Nostalgic Songs
Prior to the appearance of Judika, the guest bands, TB Aji, Axin X Factor and Dnanda Idol, dazzled at the concert with a number of nostalgic pop and rock songs.
The bands evoked the audience’s feelings of nostalgia when vocalist Axin Zay belted out Iwan Falls Swami’s number, “Bento”, which got the audience on their feet. Axin’s guitarist mesmerized the audience when the band sang American rock band Gun N’ Roses hit “Sweet Child of Mine”, a song that has won the heart of music lovers worldwide.
Axin Zay belted out “The Final Countdown” by Swedish Rock band Europe, which energized the crowd. Dnanda, who appeared after Axin, presented other nostalgic songs, such as “Kisah Cintaku” (My Love Story), created by Tito Soemarsono and which was popularized by artist Chrisye in 1988, and released by Arjuna in 2002.
The three-hour concert at Menara Danareksa was a great success, partly as a result of the high-quality sound system and excellent lighting.
“The ballroom has a high-quality sound system and lighting. On top of that, the ballroom’s high ceiling makes us feel comfortable,” said Deny Silalahi, who watched the concert with his wife.
“I am satisfied with the concert even though I expected Judika to sing more songs,” he added, while admiring the interior of the spacious and pillarless ballroom.
“Overall, the concert was a great success,” he commented.
