T

he AIA Healthiest School program in Indonesia culminated recently in a national award ceremony, marking the pinnacle of efforts to promote health in educational institutions. Attended by school representatives, educators and officials from the Education, Culture, Research and Technology Ministry, the event celebrated the dedication of schools toward fostering healthy lifestyles among children.

Kathryn Parapak, AIA's chief marketing officer, commended the participants for their commitment to promoting wellness among children, emphasizing the crucial role of healthy habits in shaping their future quality of life. With 145 schools participating in the program, projects were meticulously evaluated by a panel of experts before declaring SD 222 Pasir Pogor state elementary school and SMP 22 Semarang state junior high school as the overall winners in the elementary and junior high categories, respectively.

These champion schools were awarded US$15,000 each in facility enhancements to further support their educational endeavors. As part of a larger global initiative, they are now poised to compete internationally against schools from Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Vietnam and Australia, with the results to be announced in Bali later this year.

.

Initiated in collaboration with Bobo magazine and Kompas Gramedia, the AIA Healthiest Schools program aims to cultivate healthy living habits within school communities, focusing on healthy eating, active lifestyles, mental wellbeing and health & sustainability. Launched in September 2023, the competition concluded in March 2024, engaging students aged 5-12 in crafting innovative solutions to promote health and well-being in their schools.

In alignment with the ministry's vision of nurturing a healthy and joyful generation, AIA actively supports the Healthy School Program as a campaign partner, underscoring its commitment to fostering healthier lifestyles nationwide. Beyond the competition, AIA Healthiest School conducts school road show activities across the Jabodetabek area, spreading awareness and providing guidance on implementing healthy practices in schools, sometimes featuring expertise from esteemed institutions like English Premier League soccer club Tottenham Hotspur.

Ultimately, the AIA Healthiest School program symbolizes AIA's dedication to improving the well-being of families across Indonesia, with hopes that the participating schools will continue their efforts in creating environments conducive to health. Through collective action and shared commitment, the program seeks to inspire lasting change, empowering future generations to lead healthier, happier lives.
