nvest Selangor Berhad is set to hold the highly anticipated Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2024 in July and October at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
Invest Selangor Berhard said in a statement that the SIBS 2024, officially launched on June 25 at the Sheraton Hotel in Petaling Jaya, would feature two dynamic series: Series One, which will run from July 25 to 27, and Series Two from Oct. 16 to 19.
“The events will offer unparalleled opportunities for industry insights, engagement and international networking,” it said.
This annual event, spearheaded by the Selangor State Government and organized by Invest Selangor Berhad, has evolved into one of the region’s largest marketplaces and networking hubs for exhibitors, investors and industry leaders from across Southeast Asia.
Ng Sze Han, Selangor Exco for Investment, Trade and Mobility, urged the business community to engage deeply in SIBS 2024, emphasizing its role in fostering growth within Malaysia and across ASEAN.
SIBS 2024, expected to attract over 60,000 visitors from 80 countries, aims to facilitate transactions worth 7 billion ringgit (US$1.49 billion).
Dato’ Seri Amirudin bin Shari, Chief Minister of Selangor highlighted the scale and significance of SIBS 2024, which will feature five major expos and conferences, making it the largest edition yet.
Investment themes
According to the statement, the first series will focus on investment themes through two key events, namely the Selangor ASEAN Business Conference (SABC) and the Selangor Investment and Industrial Park Expo (SPARK).
The SABC is a pivotal regional forum to address investment challenges and opportunities within Southeast Asia.
It will feature esteemed speakers such as the chief minister of Selangor and senior representatives of business chambers from ASEAN member countries, including a notable speaker from Timor-Leste.
“SPARKS will showcase prominent players in the industrial park ecosystem across ASEAN and from various state governments and industry stakeholders,” it said.
Meanwhile, the second series will delve into specific sectors with three main events, namely the Selangor International Expo (SIE), the Selangor Life Sciences Convention (SLC) and the Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention (SDEC).
The SIE is an international food and beverage expo that will feature local and international exhibitors as well as key forums and discussions on Food Security.
“The Selangor International Halal Convention or SELHAC the state’s own halal expo focusing on halal certification, halal logistics and digital innovation in the halal industry will also be co-located in the SIE F&B,” the statement said.
SLC, a conference and expo on the life sciences sector, will feature three industry forums; the Selangor Life Sciences Synergy forum, the Medical Device Authority Industry Updates seminar and the Selangor Korea Sustainable Futures Seminar.
The SDEC will showcase exhibitors under the theme of exploring artificial intelligence (AI) innovation in mobility, health care and education. The SDEC will also feature the state’s latest initiative, the Malaysia Semiconductor Accelerator and IC Design Park.
