IA Group Limited announced the regional winner of the second AIA Healthiest Schools Competition, part of a program launched in 2022 to promote healthy eating, active lifestyles, mental well-being and sustainability among students aged 5-16.
In the 2023/2024 program, 2,376 schools participated. Data from the first year showed that 92 percent of students improved their knowledge of healthy lifestyles and 88 percent improved their changed their actions to foster healthier living. The competition provides a platform for schools, educators, parents and students to share resources and best practices.
Stuart A. Spencer, AIA Group Chief Marketing Officer, emphasized the competition's alignment with AIA’s mission to foster sustainable behavioral change for healthier living. He highlighted AIA's commitment to engaging a billion people to live healthier lives by 2030 through the AIA One Billion ambition.
Sainthan Satyamoorthy, President Director of AIA Indonesia, highlighted the engagement of over 1,300 schools in Indonesia and the support of the Education, Culture, Research and Technology Ministry. Through AIA programs, over 47,000 students and 2,200 teachers have embraced healthy lifestyles.
This year’s awards ceremony recognized a regional winner and finalists, evaluated on their work's breadth, engagement, impact and future plans. The winning school received US$100,000 to enhance their health and well-being initiatives.
Regional winner: SK Putrajaya Presint 11(1) in Malaysia, recognized for the “HELPIE” app, developed by students to promote stress awareness and mental well-being. The app will be shared with other institutions.
