The 8th SABC 2024, themed "Selangor, the Key of ASEAN: Accelerating Prosperity through Strategic Connectivity and Resilience," featured prominent speakers, business leaders, and public sector trade policy developers. The conference focused on key challenges in ASEAN, such as market access, regional economic integration, and entrepreneurship.

The two-day SABC 2024 event showcased 20 distinguished speakers from across the ASEAN region, drawing 500 attendees and 200 international delegates from 23 countries. Highlights included Panel 1: “Redefining ASEAN's Trade Landscape,” moderated by Jukhee Hong, with panelists Chris Humphrey, Josephine Romero, Raja Badrulnizam Raja Kamalzaman, and Kelvin Kee. Panel 2, “Selangor, Gateway to ASEAN: Shaping the Regional Economic Landscape,” was moderated by Yuki Aizawa and included panelists Saipolyazan M Yusop, Leo Chen, and Koay Tze Siang.

The conference concluded its first day with a session titled “In Conversation,” featuring Malaysia’s Minister of Natural Resources Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, discussing sustainable development and net-zero emissions goals. Day two included sessions on investment opportunities and ESG strategies in ASEAN.

For the first time, SABC included pitching presentations from six ASEAN countries, showcasing investment opportunities. It also introduced the Industri Kreatif ASEAN (IKA) mini showcase, featuring arts and crafts from ASEAN countries.

Running concurrently, SPARK 2024 highlighted key industrial park ecosystem players and suppliers from Malaysia and the region. Major developers and operators participated, alongside Malaysian state governments and stakeholders like MIDA and North Port. The event also featured Invest Selangor's Selangor Investors Sessions clinic, offering a platform for investors to engage with local authorities.

Hasan Azhari Hj. Idris noted, "This SIBS First Edition, featuring two investment-focused events, represents a unique opportunity for collaboration and growth. With full participation and support from MIDA and Malaysian states, SIBS is now a major regional event.”
