he Theater Committee of the Jakarta Arts Council (DKJ) together with its organizing partner Gema Citra Nusantara is once again holding the Djakarta International Theater Platform (DITP), a cross-disciplinary collaboration space that opens up the potential for developing performing arts on a national and global scale.
Held from Aug. 19 to 25 and Sept. 6 to 7 at the Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM) arts and cultural center in Cikini, Central Jakarta, the DITP 2024 is supported by the TIM Jakarta Arts Center Management Unit (UP PKJ TIM) and PT Jakarta Propertindo (Perseroda).
Since its launch in 2017, the DITP has strived to showcase the connectedness of social phenomena in society with the vast potential for progressive artistic innovation in performing arts.
Through this year’s curatorial theme of Posthuman, participants and audiences are invited to reflect on humanity’s efforts to continue reinterpreting their identity and existence amid the onslaught of information flows, digital technology and scientific developments.
Along with accommodating artistic explorations of novelty and innovation, the annual program also aims to build networks between production and artistic teams, form an audience ecosystem and foster critical discourse in the Indonesian performing arts world.
Throughout the event, the DITP 2024 will present a series of performances by both Indonesian and international troupes, including Pijin Neji (Japan), Petra Theater (Jakarta), Bulqini x Collective Laboratory (Bandung), GogolFest/Dakh Theater (Ukraine) and Stock Theater (Jakarta). All performances are free of charge, but attendees are required to register online 30 minutes prior to the show at the latest.
In addition to the performances, the Performing Arts Incubation Trajectory (PAIr) cross-committee residency program seeks to connect the work of artists in the artistic space and the work of producers in the production space. As a collaborative program between the Theater Committee, Music Committee and Dance Committee, PAIr serves as a creation laboratory platform that is expected to strengthen the performance ecosystem in Indonesia.
