BRI posts 76% rise in net profit for 2021

ank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) booked strong growth in net profit in 2021 as the banking sector recovered from the COVID-19 pandemic, with improvements also seen in credit disbursement and asset quality.
BRI individually booked Rp 32.2 trillion (US$2.23 billion) in net profit, up 75.53 percent from a year earlier, the state-controlled lender reported on Thursday.
This growth was supported in part by a positive performance in credit and third-party funds, as well as a significant decline in interest cost, according to BRI president director Sunarso.
“Amid the national economic recovery effort, BRI managed to close 2021 wonderfully,” Sunarso said in a virtual press conference on Thursday.
