Lomba Foto Astra, Anugerah Pewarta Astra return for 2022 edition Toleransi Beragama (Religious Tolerance) by Suprapto, which took home first place in Lomba Foto Astra 2021's general public category.

L

omba Foto Astra (LFA) and the Anugerah Pewarta Astra (APA) return once again for 2022 with the theme Bangkit Bersama Untuk Indonesia (Rising Together for Indonesia).

Held as part of Astra’s 65th anniversary celebrations, LFA and APA 2022 were described in detail in a webinar hosted by the company, which featured content creator and writer Raditya Dika along with photographer Putri Anindya as speakers. Both competitions are open for members of the public as well as journalists, with the deadline set for Dec. 31.

According to Putri, the competitions allowed uplifting narratives to be spread more widely among the public, while at the same time providing an outlet for aspiring photographers and writers to exhibit their works and hone their skills.

Whether they won or not, she continued, was just an added bonus.

In Raditya’s view, the reality is that many will not come home as winners, as there will be numerous submissions from across the country competing for limited spots.

“For many of those who are scared to join, this is also a chance to practice handling rejection – in life, no one is automatically the best [at what they do]. We also have to remember that failure is a part of our creative process, because everyone will have to experience that feeling of failure to learn from their mistakes,” he said.

“The cycle of content creation is to create, evaluate and amend. If we never experience failure, we will never be able to evaluate – learn from the winners and use that knowledge to improve your work in the future.”

However, should they win, Raditya said that the submitter’s credibility would rise accordingly, gaining another entry in their portfolio with the award perhaps being enough leverage to raise their commission fees.

“Both losing and winning are good outcomes, so why not enter the competition?”

LFA 2022 aims to highlight positive activities in Indonesia’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, such as pictures portraying the Indonesian people’s enduring spirit, optimism in facing challenges, cooperation in rising together and symbolizing hope and unity in the country.

Meanwhile, APA 2022 seeks to showcase inspirational and positive stories from the 565 recipients of the Semangat Astra Terpadu Untuk (SATU) Indonesia Awards as well as the figures behind the 170 Kampung Berseri Astra (KBA) and 1,060 Desa Sejahtera Astra (DSA) across Indonesia.

The SATU Indonesia Awards is a form of Astra's appreciation for the younger generation, who have pioneered changes to share with their surrounding community in the fields of health, education, environment, entrepreneurship and technology, as well as a Group category representing the five fields.

Through the SATU Indonesia Awards, Astra also encourages young people involved to collaborate with the KBA and DSA flagship programs, with the hope that they will be able to create a greater positive impact and a sustainable contribution to development efforts in their respective areas.

KBA is a community-based development program integrating the four pillars of Astra's sustainable social contribution program initiatives, namely in health, education, environment and entrepreneurship, focused on specific villages to improve the community’s quality of life.

KBA is further developed in the DSA program, which is Astra's social contribution program in the region-based entrepreneurship sector. DSA is done in collaboration with the central government, regional governments, universities, communities, start-ups and village communities in developing a rural economy based on a village’s potential and products.

The DSA program consists of assistance for village communities, ranging from training, institutional strengthening and infrastructure support, to facilitating access to capital and product marketing.

The two competitions share a common prize pool, with each first-place winner taking home a Honda PCX e:HEV, the second-prize winners securing a Honda ADV 160 and third place the recipients of a Honda Vario 160.

In addition, the runners up stand a chance to win six DJI Mavic Mini 2 drones, while favorite entries will receive one of 30 Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 tablets, with monthly consolation prizes of 12 Jabra Elite 2 True Wireless Earbuds.
