enture capitalist Patrick Walujo has been nominated as new CEO of homegrown tech giant PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia, the company announced on Thursday.

The proposal will be raised for approval at the annual shareholders' meeting (RUPST) and the extraordinary shareholders' meeting (RUPSLB) on June 30, finalizing the change from Patrick’s previous post as commissioner of the tech company.

If approved, Patrick will replace the existing CEO Andre Soelistyo, who is set to become the firm's commissioner. In the new role, Andre will oversee and give strategic direction for the firm's management to pursue the company's financial and sustainability targets.

"The progress we have made is built on the work of countless people, including the world-class leaders who currently run the business. As a historically founder-led organization, GoTo has always prioritized the development of leaders, so we can move beyond founders toward long-term professionalization," Andre said in a statement on Thursday.

Patrick was the first external investor in Gojek, back before its merger with Tokopedia, after pouring an undisclosed amount of investment into the ride-hailing start-up in 2014. The deal was made even before the company released its mobile app in 2015.
