IDX Composite achieved a new 2023 high, closing 0.48 percent higher at 7,093.6 on Monday. The previous record was set on Nov. 30 at 7,080.7.
ndonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) Composite (IHSG) set a new record high for 2023 on Monday, closing up 33.6 points, 0.48 percent, to 7,093.6.
This achievement surpassed the previous record of 7,080.7 set on Nov. 30.
The day's trading activity witnessed a total volume of 33.65 billion shares, equivalent to a total value of Rp 12.35 trillion (US$802.75 million). By the closing bell, 257 stocks gained, 297 weakened and 214 remained stagnant.
Following the IHSG's positive trend, 10 sectoral indexes experienced gains, while one entered the red zone.
Notable increases were seen in the raw goods sector, with a 0.97 percent rise, followed by the energy and financial sectors, with a 0.66 percent and 0.48 percent increase, respectively. Meanwhile, the non-primary consumer goods sector saw a 0.13 percent decline.
During the IHSG's rally, PT Gajah Tunggal (GJTL) shares reached the upper auto-rejection limit (ARA) and led the gain with a 24.7 percent increase. Other notable gainers were PT Mitra Pack (PTMP), with a 17.6 percent increase, and PT Pulau Subur (PTPS), rising by 15.7 percent.
Meanwhile, PT Puri Global Sukses (PURI) was the biggest loser, experiencing a 13.7 percent decrease. PURI was followed by PT Bank Jago (ARTO) and PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia (GOTO), declining by 11.4 percent and 8.6 percent, respectively.
The Financial Services Authority (OJK) reported that the IHSG recorded a 4.87 percent monthly gain in November.
OJK head of capital market supervision Inarno Djajadi noted that this improvement coincided with reduced pressure on foreign capital outflows, recording a net sell of Rp 520 billion in November compared with Rp 8.1 trillion the month before.
"Several sectors in the IHSG in November 2023 were still strong, including the technology, infrastructure and finance sectors," said Inarno on Monday, as quoted by Antara news agency.
From Jan. 1 to Nov. 30, IHSG strengthened by 3.36 percent, with foreign investors posting a net sell of Rp13.86 trillion.
In terms of transaction liquidity, the average daily transaction value (RNTH) in November rose to Rp 10.54 trillion year-to-date, surpassing October's Rp 10.48 trillion.
Inarno projected a continued increase in RNTH, targeting Rp 10.75 trillion per day by the end of the year and a further rise to reach Rp 12.25 trillion in 2024.
