T Pantai Indah Kapuk Dua (PANI) aims to conduct the soft launch of a hotel located in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) project site in East Kalimantan in July.

"We are aiming for pre-opening in July, before its official opening on August 17, 2024," PANI corporate secretary Christy Grassela said on Sunday, as quoted by Kompas.com.

As of Sunday, the construction work on the five-star hotel, which will be called Nusantara Hotel, had reached its targeted ninth floor on schedule.

PANI operates under the umbrella of the Agung Sedayu Group (ASG), which spearheads the ASG Consortium, the primary investor behind Nusantara Hotel. ASG is known for mega construction projects such as the clusters of residential and business areas on reclaimed islands in Pantai Indah Kapuk, North Jakarta.

The consortium comprises 10 property giants including ASG, led by business tycoon Sugianto “Aguan” Kusuma. Other prominent property developers and tycoons in the consortium include the Salim Group with Anthony Salim at its helm; Sinarmas, led by Franky Wijaya; and Pulauintan, owned by Pui Sudarto.

The remaining members of the consortium are the Astra Group, Kawan Lama Group, Mulia Group, Alfa Group, Barito Pacific Group and Adaro Group.

Aside from constructing the 200-room Nusantara Hotel, the consortium is also set to build a shopping center, commercial space and mixed-use office developments.

Among the six hotels currently undergoing construction in the new capital, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo believes that the Nusantara Hotel will achieve completion before August 2024. When inspecting the construction of the hotel in December last year, the President remarked that its construction progress had reached 34 percent.

On the same occasion, Jokowi emphasized that the ongoing development of various projects in Nusantara reflected growing interest among investors.

“This is what I said earlier, after one [infrastructure] starts its groundbreaking, the others will follow suit. There are hotels, malls, sports centers, hospitals. Do remember that the progress must be checked every month,” the President said, as quoted by the Cabinet Secretariat website.
