he Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) Composite closed up 36.99 points, or 0.52 percent, on Tuesday, ending the day’s trading session at 7,110.81.

A total of 270 stocks rose, 288 stocks fell and 225 stocks remained unchanged. Eight sectoral indices strengthened, supporting the rise of the Composite index, while three other sectoral indices fell.

The energy sector gained notably with a 1.26 percent rise, and the technology sector climbed by 0.87 percent. Conversely, the transportation sector witnessed a decline of 0.49 percent, along with the raw materials sector, which dropped by 0.39 percent, and the healthcare sector, which slipped by 0.23 percent.

The day’s total trading volume was 19.44 billion shares, valued at Rp 12.20 trillion (US$752.67 million).

Tuesday’s top gainers on the LQ45 index were PT Bank Central Asia (BBCA), which closed up 4.01 percent, followed by PT XL Axiata (EXCL), rising by 3.91 percent, and PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia (GOTO), increasing by 3.39 percent.

GOTO shares, in particular, gained after being under pressure throughout the previous week. Before Tuesday’s course reversal, GOTO shares closed three times in the red and were otherwise stagnant during the week. As the closing bell approached around 3:32 p.m., the stock was trading at Rp 63, up 6.78 percent. On Monday, the stock was stagnant.

GOTO itself has an important agenda, as it will announce its performance results for the first quarter of 2024 on Monday. However, its stock has fallen to its lowest level in the last three months.

The top losers on the LQ45 index on Tuesday were by PT Mitra Pack (PTMP) with a decrease of 6.79 percent, PT Merdeka Copper Gold (MDKA) with a 4.48 percent drop and PT Unilever Indonesia (UNVR) with a 3.32 percent decline.
