oTo, Indonesia’s leading digital ecosystem, recently hosted its 2024 GoTo Engineering Bootcamp, equipping 43 newly graduated tech engineers with essential industry skills.

Launched in 2018, the GoTo Engineering Bootcamp is part of GoTo Group’s commitment to empower Indonesian talent, transforming participants into the next generation of tech leaders.

Through a strong culture of innovation and mentorship, GoTo has consistently developed future tech leaders over the past six years, preparing them for long-term success.

Patrick Walujo, GoTo Group CEO, said, “Since its inception, GoTo has consistently nurtured the development of exceptional tech talent, as a way to drive innovation throughout our business. This is part of our mission and passion to support Indonesia’s growth”

Patrick stated that GoTo acknowledged the urgent need to develop and equip homegrown tech talent in line with Indonesia’s rapid expansion and its potential to become the largest digital economy in Southeast Asia, and that becomes the main inspiration for GoTo to initiate the GoTo Engineering Bootcamp.

In addition, Puneet Goyal, Gojek Chief Technology Officer and GoTo Engineering Bootcamp Program Champion, also said, “More than just technical skills, this bootcamp equips participants with the mindset to channel their curiosity toward technology and the confidence to excel in their careers”

Since 2018, over 250 participants have graduated from the program and secured full-time positions within Gojek and GoTo Financial. Ten percent of these graduates have progressed from entry-level roles to senior leadership positions.

“They continue to make significant contributions to our ecosystem by developing solutions that benefit our users and partners. We are proud to be part of Indonesia's dynamic tech industry and look forward to even greater advancements in the future.” said Puneet

The GoTo Engineering Bootcamp is a nine-week intensive training program where participants sharpen their coding skills while also building a strong foundation about engineering principles.

Participants will receive hands-on experience and direct learning opportunities from GoTo’s in-house engineering experts, as well as external coaches. The program also includes a range of activities such as coding challenges, professional development workshops, and one-on-one mentoring sessions.

To provide students with information about how to join the GoTo Bootcamp program, GoTo will conduct road shows on various campuses. These include the University of Indonesia, Bandung Institute of Technology, Gajah Mada University, Binus University, Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology, Brawijaya University and the Bali Institute of Technology and Business and many more.

GoTo presence in shaping Indonesia’s digital landscape

As a homegrown tech ecosystem that thrives for Indonesia (#KaryaAnakBangsa #BerjuangUntukIndonesia), GoTo takes an active role in driving the acceleration of the digital transformation in Indonesia.

Aside from GoTo Engineering Bootcamp, GoTo recently launched GoTo APM Bootcamp, a comprehensive on-the-job training program for product managers with a world-class curriculum well designed to support and accelerate the development of local tech talent.

LPEM UI's research conducted between 2018 and 2023 showed that on average, the presence of GoTo at the city/regency level increases the number of digitally savvy workers by 2.2 to 3.1 percent.

LPEM researcher Prani Sastiono stated, “Technology companies like GoTo play a strategic role in enhancing digital literacy and talent in Indonesia. Initiative like this bootcamp is crucial not only for the company but also for the overall digital ecosystem in Indonesia. Beside fostering digital talent, aligned with our research findings, digital platforms like GoTo can also drive the growth of technopreneurs by inspiring, networking, cultivating a business mindset, and equipping technical skills. Many GoTo alumni have gone on to become new technopreneurs and establish new technology companies,” she added.

Unquestionably, GoTo Engineering Bootcamp reflects GoTo’s strong commitment to empowering Indonesian talent, transforming them into the next generation of tech leaders, well aligned with Indonesia’s flourishing digital economy that requires more digital talent.
