rom neighborhood coffee shops to lunchtime eateries that specialize in takeouts, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) is the backbone of the Indonesian economy.

According to data from the MSMEs Ministry, these smaller entities make up 99 percent of all businesses in the country, contributing 61 percent to gross domestic product (GDP) and employing 97 percent of the national workforce in 2023.

GoFood, Gojek’s on-demand food delivery service, has always been linked to MSMEs, constantly guiding their growth and development through initiatives like Pojok Belajar (learning corner)

Launched in August 2024, Pojok Belajar is a practical education and mentoring initiative for GoFood Merchant Partners who are part of the GoFood Partner Community (KOMPAG), one of the country’s largest culinary MSMEs communities which counts more than 212,000 members across 104 cities.

This expansion aims to reach more Merchant Partners from diverse regional backgrounds, in line with the growing enthusiasm of MSME entrepreneurs who want to learn and grow with the community. Not only expanding the scale of the program, GoFood also enhanced the quality of its mentors. The Pojok Belajar mentors are selected from top-performing businesses with proven track records, relevant expertise, and a strong sense of collaboration.

Dani Oktobianto, Vice President of Sales at Gojek, said Pojok Belajar had evolved from an educational program to a place where merchants can meet and exchange tips and tricks on best business practices.

“Pojok Belajar has evolved from an educational space into a meeting place for entrepreneurs to exchange ideas and real solutions in running their businesses. The high enthusiasm is one of the reasons we have scaled up this program to reach more MSME partners from diverse backgrounds and regions.”

This expansion is also part of GoFood's contribution to government efforts to create an equitable and inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Deputy for Micro Business, Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, Riza Damanik said encouraging collaboration through an integrated platform like Pojok Belajar aligned with the government's accelerated efforts to achieve a national entrepreneurship ratio of 8 percent by 2045.

“We appreciate GoFood's support and the contributions of mentors who carry out the noble mission of growing together. Through cross-sector collaboration from the government, the private sector, organizations, communities and even among MSMEs themselves, we are increasingly optimistic that MSMEs will be able to thrive and become pillars of the national economy,”  state Riza.

In addition, Reza emphasized  that the government remains committed to strengthening a more productive ecosystem for MSMEs by facilitating business licensing and certification, improving access to financing, fostering partnerships, and promoting digitalization of national MSMEs to boost their added value and helping them to scale up.

This Pojok Belajar initiative complements GoFood’s various technological advancements and innovations, including the launch of the revamped GoFood Merchant app, which features a range of enhancements designed to make it easier for culinary entrepreneurs to manage their business operations digitally. Through the app, registering as a GoFood partner can now be completed in just five minutes.

Through a community-based approach that offers direct support and access to mentors, GoFood hopes Pojok Belajar will become a catalyst in growing culinary MSMEs that are resilient, adaptive and ready to compete in the digital economy.
