n a masterclass of skill and strategy, Sinarmas World Academy’s SWA RoboKnights powered through the VEX Robotics Indonesia National Championship 2025/2026, earning six major awards and securing a coveted spot on the global stage.

With this historic sweep, the teams will represent Indonesia at the VEX Robotics World Championship in the United States.

Amid fierce competition, SWA RoboKnights excelled across multiple categories, with the elementary, middle and high school teams winning the Skills Only award.

In addition, the teams also took home another three awards, including the Excellence Award by the 50251A SWA RoboKnights HS team, the Design Award courtesy of 85968B SWA RoboKnights MS team, and the Judges Award by the 85968A SWA RoboKnights ES team.

“We are incredibly proud of how far our students have come. To have all elementary, middle and high school teams qualify for the VEX Robotics World Championship simultaneously speaks volumes about the strength of SWA’s robotics program,” said Dr. Haoken, SWA’s IBDP coordinator.

“This is what innovation looks like in an IB learning environment. Students build, test, fail forward, reflect and improve through a disciplined design cycle. They learn to collaborate under pressure, communicate decisions with evidence and lead with purpose – skills that matter in life.”

Isabel, a member of 50251A SWA RoboKnights HS, said she learned many new and complicated skills that will help her in the future.

“I learned that through collaboration, brainstorming and problem-solving, we would be able to accomplish difficult tasks. While building the robot, we felt frustrated while troubleshooting, but we still got through it. The most nerve-racking part was competing, as I had to have full belief in my team, which taught me that in order to be successful, we need a good and solid team.”

The milestone extended beyond the arena. In partnership with PT Provisi Mandiri Pratama, Sinarmas World Academy also made history by becoming the pioneer host of a VEX Robotics competition in Indonesia, bringing together top young talents from various international schools and serving as a platform to showcase the growing strength and quality of STEM education in Indonesia.

“As the pioneer host of the VEX Robotics national competition in Indonesia, SWA strengthens its position as the leader in delivering globally aligned STEM education,” said Deddy Djaja Ria, general manager of Sinarmas World Academy.

“SWA remains committed to equipping students with future-ready skills through innovation, collaboration and real-world challenges.”

Building a track record on the world stage

Beyond this year’s victories, SWA RoboKnights’ achievements over the past two years reflect a longer-term blueprint for developing future innovators with personal focus and proven results.

Highlights include first place at the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) International Final 2024 in Izmir, Türkiye (Future Innovators, Junior Category); first place at WRO Indonesia 2025 in Surabaya (Future Innovators, Senior Category); and three gold medals along with the Start-Up Award at the WRO International Final 2025 in Singapore (Future Innovators, Senior Category).

Through project-based learning and international competitions, students are trained to think systemically, solve real-world problems and develop leadership skills from an early age. Through these accomplishments, SWA RoboKnights carry Indonesia’s name onto the world stage.

This journey underscores a simple truth seen across elite robotics programs worldwide: when education is built on long-term vision, consistent processes, and trust in students’ potential, achievement is no longer the end goal, instead becoming part of a lifelong path toward the future.
