PT Ferrari Eurokars Indonesia, the official Ferrari dealer, took The Jakarta Post for a spin in the new Ferrari Roma.
The Ferrari Roma is the newest offering from the Italian luxury carmaker’s stable and emphasizes daily use. First unveiled in Indonesian in March 2021, the supercar became available for test-driving only in early 2022.
It was a clear morning on Feb. 18 at the Senayan sports complex when Benedict Setyawan, the experience manager at Ferrari Jakarta, handed over a key fob the size of a Zippo lighter, the Ferrari logo on one side and the Roma logo on the other. Of course, we did the obligatory walk around the car prior to entering the vehicle to see what this new generation Ferrari was all about.
Speed and comfort
Suffice to say, the Ferrari Roma is the discreet and dapper member in a family of bold, aggressive alphas. The Roma basically says, “I’m fast and comfortable.” This is a supercar after all, and its objective is to fulfill the need for speed – at the street-legal level, that is. So when supercar designers have to make a decision between comfort and performance, they will choose the latter, more often than not.
A prime example is the stiff suspension. A supercar needs a stiff rather than a soft suspension in order to maintain balance and control at ridiculously high speeds. High-tech cars nowadays come with a driving mode feature to opt for comfort or sports, but each car has its own interpretation of the two.
