Which Indonesian actors will shine the brightest on our screens this year?
Now that the Indonesian film and entertainment industry is on the mend after the pandemic hiatus, some of the emerging talent in the industry is poised to catch a second wind as well.
From fresh ingenues ready to take up bigger roles to established thespians who started from the bottom and have finally earned top billings, here are some of the promising homegrown actors who have the potential to sweep audiences off their feet in 2023.
Clara Bernadeth
Formerly a supporting actress in horror flicks, the Jakarta native played breakout heroines in 2021's Hujan di Balik Jendela and the 2022 tearjerker Until Tomorrow.
The 28-year-old's profile went to the stratosphere when she closed the year 2022 as an ex-con looking for a second chance in Vidio original series Dapur Napi alongside Asmara Abigail and Poppy Sovia. This year seems brighter – and perhaps, more challenging – for Clara as she will lead the ensemble of the upcoming film adaptation of the Indonesian best-selling novel Ganjil Genap.
