em>The Jakarta Police arrested a man named Yudo Andreawan for allegedly attacking someone in a shopping center in the Central Jakarta area on Thursday.

The police’s vehicles sub-directorate chief Comr. Yuliansyah said Yudo was currently undergoing intense examination by investigators from the Criminal Investigation Directorate.

“He is the same person who previously had a commotion [with another passenger] at Manggarai Station that went viral," said Yuliansyah to kompas.com on Friday.

The police’s current examination, along with viral videos on Twitter, shows Yudo had been notorious for raging and causing a scene in numerous locations, from shopping malls and clothing stores to the Law Faculty lobby of the University of Indonesia, where he is a graduate student.

Yuliansyah said the Jakarta Police had previously received reports regarding Yudo’s abusive and unpleasant actions in January 2023.

"Apparently, in January, someone reported him on articles 335 and 351 of the Criminal Code [KUHP],” Yuliansyah said. The articles concern unpleasant acts done to someone by way of threat or violence.

“Eventually, the Jakarta Police could only see which of our departments could get to him first, and we from the vehicles sub-directorate did,” he added.

Yudo has been active on social media following the incidents.

“I understand my actions were out of control and cannot be justified in the slightest by norm and law, so I’ve sought professional help to help me control my anger issue,” Yudo tweeted on Thursday.
