he ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in Jakarta was successfully implemented in collaboration with many entities and brands that came together to encourage sustainability and transition to green economy. TAG Heuer, one of the most well-known luxury watch brands in the world, has been a founding partner and official timekeeper since 2013.
“We are very excited to have the Formula E for the second time back in our home town of Jakarta. We at Porsche, with our first all-electric Porsche Taycan, are very eager towards electrification, sustainability, and our rich history of motorsport. Formula E is the perfect alignment of our values and we are proud to be taking part in the Jakarta E-prix to support the Tag Heuer Porsche Formula e team,” said Alexander Riedel, General Manager of Porsche Indonesia.
To break new grounds in technology and performance, TAG Heuer and Porsche have joined forces to create the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team. The special occasion was marked with an exclusive event in Plaza Senayan on Wednesday, ahead of the race.
With special guest appearance from TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E team drivers Pascal Wehrlein and António Félix da Costa, the evening showcased the unparalleled fusion of TAG Heuer's timeless craftsmanship and the adrenaline of Formula E racing. To top it off, the night ended with a special performance by Ahmad Al Ghazali, a friend of the brand.
Attendees at the cocktail party had the opportunity to talk to the drivers themselves about their experience in the sport and how they eventually became Formula E drivers. Moreover, guests were also able to get a glimpse of a Porsche Taycan Turbo in the newest 99X Gen 3 livery, courtesy of the collaboration between TAG Heuer and Porsche that showed promise of a win. It came to fruition when the next day when Pascal took the first place in Formula E Jakarta 2023 on Saturday.
“With the Taycan, when we introduced it in Indonesia, it was the first electric vehicle in its class. We have now seen an increasing demand. The customers, the Indonesian customers, are really passionate and keen on electrification and electric vehicles. So, having the sport model as part of this electrification is very exciting for us… to have it here in Jakarta,” added Alexander.
Furthermore, the event was held in tandem with the launch of TAG Heuer’s new latest timepiece collection, inspired by the dynamic energy and relentless pursuit of excellence. Designed with a perfect blend of style and functionality, these exquisite timepieces are a testament to TAG Heuer's unwavering commitment to precision and performance.
