Bank Mandiri (stock code BMRI) has been named the Best Bank in Indonesia as part of the coveted Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2023.
ank Mandiri (stock code BMRI) has been named the Best Bank in Indonesia as part of the coveted Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2023, based on a performance appraisal and a survey conducted over the past year highlighting the bank’s stellar performance, achievements and digital transformation.
Held in Hong Kong, on July 25, the awards ceremony was attended by Bank Mandiri president director Darmawan Junaidi, director of finance and strategy Sigit Prastowo, and director of information technology Timothy Utama.
In a statement, Darmawan noted Bank Mandiri’s consumer-oriented business strategy that always tries to keep up with customer needs, including trends and technological developments.
“We deeply appreciate this award, which also motivates Bank Mandiri to continue to maintain the best performance and service for the Indonesian people and economy," he said.
In addition, this Indonesia's larget banking group by assets also won two awards at the Asian Banking & Finance (ABF) Retail Banking Awards 2023, which were held in Singapore on Tuesday.
In this annual international award event, Bank Mandiri won the Mobile Banking & Payment Initiative of the Year category as well as the New Consumer Lending Product of the Year award for the company's achievements in managing and developing digital services that provide the best financial service solutions for customers.
According to Darmawan, the acknowledgement is the essence of hard work and consistency of all Mandirians in their commitment to providing the best services and products for Bank Mandiri customers, as well as the public.
"The awards are also an acknowledgment of trust from our stakeholders that Bank Mandiri presents the best and most comprehensive financial solutions in Indonesia," he added.
Alongside the awards, Bank Mandiri’s achievements were also reflected in the company's performance in the first five months of 2023, which were increasingly positive.
Referring to the bank-only financial reports, as of May 2023, Bank Mandiri managed to record credit disbursement of Rp 964.45 trillion, growing 10.36 percent year on year (yoy), which exceeded the banking industry's credit rate growth of around 9.39 percent yoy.
Bank Mandiri's lending is mostly dominated by the wholesale banking segment, with growth reaching 9.4 percent. This is in line with Bank Mandiri's focus on optimizing the wholesale business as the core of the company's business.
Darmawan explained that the achievement is inseparable from increasing public trust in the financial sector along with the continued improvement in the trend of national economic growth.
Aside from its credit line, Bank Mandiri has also become increasingly serious in accelerating digital transformation. In addition to presenting reliable financial solutions for customers, Darmawan believes this transformation will also be able to support increased financial inclusion in the country and increase acceptance of Bank Mandiri's digital services in the community.
“Indonesia's economy has a great opportunity to continue to grow. For this reason, Bank Mandiri strives to continue to be present to meet the needs of the community and customers through improvements in terms of service and digital innovation."
