un Life, in partnership with Canada Basketball, introduces the Sun Life Celebrity & Basketball Weekend as part of the #MovementMatters campaign, set to take place at Mal Gandaria City Jakarta from Aug. 18-20. This campaign represents Sun Life's commitment to encouraging more Indonesian families to be active and live healthier lives, particularly through basketball.

Through #MovementMatters, Sun Life aims to highlight the various benefits of one of Indonesia's favorite sports. Playing basketball has positive impacts on health and well-being. It can be played individually or in teams with flexible compositions, such as 2x2 or 3x3. Basketball is also an inclusive sport, suitable for all ages and skill levels. Beyond building confidence and reducing stress, basketball fosters positive interactions and bonding among players, requiring strong teamwork and communication. Therefore, playing basketball can be an enjoyable physical activity for families to engage in.

Kaiser Simanungkalit, vice president of branding, communications and client experience at Sun Life Indonesia, stated, “It is an honor for Sun Life, as the official insurance partner for Canada Basketball, to welcome the world's best basketball teams to Jakarta and be part of an international basketball competition. We are proud that Indonesia will support Team Canada as the 'chosen' team in the championship, and we are excited to leverage this opportunity to emphasize the importance of an active and healthy lifestyle through the #MovementMatters campaign to a wider Indonesian audience.”

This event will showcase a series of exciting activities, including the Celebrity Match featuring two teams: Team Blue, led by Dion Wiyoko as the team captain, along with Jovial Da Lopez, Augie Fantinus, and Rayi Putra, facing off against Team White, captained by Tarra Budiman, with Samuel Rizal, Andovi Da Lopez, and Dimas Danang.

To further enhance the event, Sun Life will also organize coaching clinics for children and teenagers with professional basketball coaches. There will also be a 3x3 tournament featuring legendary Indonesian basketball players, professional players, and celebrity basketball communities. Additionally, participants can engage in various health and wellness competitions and activities, such as the general 3x3 basketball tournament and U-18 category, as well as hip-hop dance sessions. Participants can register for all these activities through the sunlife.co.id website.

During the event, Sun Life will officially announce the #MovementMatters donation program in partnership with Beyond Sport, an international organization focused on sustainable social impact through sports. For every participant in the Sun Life Celebrity & Basketball Weekend and every online participation using likes, shares, comments, or posts with the #MovementMatters hashtag, Sun Life will donate Rp 1 million to renovate basketball sports facilities and community-based activities with local nonprofit organizations across Asia, up to a maximum total of Rp 10 billion.

Tarra Budiman expressed his enthusiasm, “I am proud to be part of the Sun Life Celebrity & Basketball Weekend and to be selected as the captain for Team White. My passion for sports, especially basketball, is significant, and despite experiencing injuries, it hasn't stopped me from staying active, especially in basketball. This time, together with my friends on Team White, we have prepared the right strategies to provide a fair and exciting match. Our hope, as Team White, is to inspire people out there who share the same passion for playing basketball. We also invite everyone to be more active, not just through basketball, but any physical activity to achieve a healthier life.”

Equally spirited, Dion Wiyoko also stated, “As the public knows, the dream of becoming an athlete has driven me to incorporate exercise and staying active into my daily routine, including basketball. I've always involved my family in sports, and I've even introduced sports to my daughter as a bonding activity through games. My team and I are proud to be part of the Sun Life Celebrity & Basketball Weekend because by participating in the #MovementMatters campaign, we indirectly support Sun Life's social mission to promote basketball sports in Indonesia and create a healthier and more active Indonesian generation.”

“We hope this event can inspire many people to start living healthier lives and create a legacy that benefits society sustainably, even after the international basketball competition has concluded,” concluded Kaiser.
