Erick Thohir encourages PNM to continue empowering more people, without discrimination

S

tate-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir listened in person to the testimonials of PNM Mekaar recipients who had successfully overcome their economic hardship, including disabled customers, during the "Hello-Hello PNM Bandung! #SudahLamaTakJumpa [long time no see]" event held at the Sabilulungan Cultural Building in Bandung, West Java.

PNM Mekaar customers are commendable for not only actively engaging in sales, but for building the sustainability of their businesses. This is evident from the continuous increase in their loan limits since they joined PNM Mekaar, and the smoother and successful operations of their businesses reflects their high fighting spirit and determination to advance and prosper.

Erick said he believed that PNM's presence was vital to narrowing the social gap in its efforts to empower women ultramicro entrepreneurs.

"We do not want the gap between the rich and the poor to widen further. In West Java, there are three million PNM customers, but that is not enough. We must be able to assist more people in need.

“Indonesia needs to be built with cooperation and a high sense of caring. Let's work with heart," Erick told the event’s participants.

The SOEs minister also presented multifunctional walking sticks to three disabled PNM Mekaar customers at the event, expressing his hope that the gifts would boost their enthusiasm in running their businesses.

PNM CEO Arief Mulyadi expressed the company’s commitment to empowering ultramicro customers through funding and other assistance in line with its principle of nondiscrimination.

This is part of the company's focus on supporting the government in achieving the country’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). For the economic pillar, PNM helps tackle the issues of decent employment, economic growth and reducing social disparities.

"Regardless of their physical limitations, we support all women who want to start their own businesses, because it is precisely in this area that PNM is present to provide services to those in need, aiming to reduce social inequalities," Arief said.
