deaFest, Indonesia’s premier festival for the country’s creative industry, returns for 2023 with a series of discussions and workshops by key industry players aimed at fostering transformative collaborations.

This year’s edition, held from Sept. 29 to Oct. 1 at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) in Senayan, Jakarta, carried the theme of Lead the Leap!. The event featured more than 280 creative actors across 120 sessions, including the IdeaFest Conference, IdeaTalks, NexSpace, Art Market and Youth Summit.

Through IdeaTalks, visitors were able to enjoy insightful discussions on the latest ideas and breakthroughs, with panelists including Arifin Putra, David Irianto, Najwa Shihab, Afgan, Laksmi DeNeefe Suardana, Ira Lesmana, Lalitia Apsari, Sherina Munaf, Maudy Ayunda, Riri Riza, Sri Paduka Mangkoenagoro X and Nadia Alaydrus.

IdeaFest’s reputation as the largest creative collaboration venue for entrepreneurs, innovators and thought leaders from around the world was evident, as this year's event aimed to push the boundaries of innovation and inspire participants to be at the forefront of shaping the future by encouraging creativity and visionary thinking.

IdeaFest cofounder Ben Soebiakto explained that IdeaFest 2023 believed that through collaboration, the creative community in Indonesia could move together to create works that provide a positive impact on Indonesia's creative economy in the long term.

"For 12 consecutive years, IdeaFest has been the biggest festival in the creative industry that connects and empowers the creative community to develop and grow by collaborating with national and international experts from various fields such as music, film, fashion and technology to share ideas, insights, entertainment and various creative breakthroughs,” he said.

“IdeaFest 2023 is specifically designed for creative actors to be able to share, discuss and collaborate so that the creative economy in Indonesia can continue to grow."

One of the event’s programs was the Idea Creative Workshop, designed as a dynamic space where creativity develops through interactive workshops to empower individuals to explore new ideas as well as their own creative skills to maximize their potential.

In addition, IdeaFest 2023 collaborated with Semasa for the Creative Market, a bazaar that presented more than 150 creative brands, from arts and craft to food and beverage.

"The theme Lead the Leap! is the new voice of IdeaFest in inviting people to have the courage to take the leap to lead amid the issues faced by the creative industry today. The hope is that IdeaFest 2023 can form and produce brave, visionary leaders who empower those around them, transform, evaluate and of course create innovation," Ben concluded.
