Celebrate the holidays with Jumeirah Bali’s enchanting Xmas tree lighting installation

E

mbrace the holiday spirit at Jumeirah Bali with the grand unveiling of Arunika, the resort’s very own signature batik motif developed in collaboration with renowned batik artist Iwan Tirta.

Celebrating the festive season, Jumeirah Bali hosted an illumination ceremony with talented local bali artist Kadek Dwi Armika to reveal the resort’s sculptural Christmas tree designs decorated with its Arunika patterns.

Sanskrit for “sunlight”, the Arunika motif takes inspiration from the Surya Majapahit emblem, featuring an eight-pointed sun ray that echoes the grandeur of the Majapahit empire through its use of intricate tumpal (front panel design) lines. Moreover, the design blends the elegant resilience of a lotus flower with the spiritual perfection of mandala circles, creating a seamless harmony that embodies Jumeirah Bali’s architectural aesthetics.

Placed strategically across the resort, guests can discover four distinct Christmas trees which are crafted from kites, paying homage to Indonesia’s rich kite tradition. To create these Christmas trees, Kadek Dwi Armika combines traditional and contemporary kite-making techniques, utilizing bamboo, batik panels, rattan, copper and wire to bring to life stunning tree designs for Jumeirah Bali this holiday season.

Each tree is individually named, their titles being Balance & Harmony, Harmonious Beauty, Festive Essence and Elegant Joy, these trees are meant to symbolize the joyful equilibrium of culture, tradition, celebration and togetherness.

The ceremony took place on Dec. 2, where Jumeriah Bali unveiled its grand Christmas tree at the resort’s Amartha Lobby, with additional design showcases present at its AKASA restaurant, Segaran Dining Terrace and Maja Sunset Lounge. The event included a comprehensive book explaining the meaning behind these Christmas trees and a documentary film detailing the journey of this project. The ceremony commenced with an enchanting performance by the Voice of Bali Children choir, singing classic Christmas carols such as Deck the Halls, Jingle Bells and Joy to the World, granting a truly magical experience for the resort’s visitors.

Guests can freely admire these installations scattered throughout the Jumeirah Bali resort during the festive season. For more details, please visit jumeirah.com/en/stay/bali/jumeirah-bali.
