n a sizzling collaboration, Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) and Trade and Investment Queensland (TIQ) are proud to announce the arrival of the second edition of the global program, Aussie Beef Mates, featuring talented Indonesian chef Edi Pancamala. Through this collaboration, Indonesians can enjoy chef Edi's Australian beef culinary creations at the Swissôtel Jakarta PIK Avenue for two weeks. The kick-off event featured a presentation on Australian beef by chef Stefu Santoso and a butchery demo by Edi. Both are Aussie Beef Mates delegates from Indonesia.

Chef Edi’s journey as an “Aussie Beef Mate” began with a captivating trip to Queensland, Australia, in October 2023. He was treated to a showcase of unique beef production spanning from the Atherton Tablelands through to Townsville, Charters Towers and Brisbane. During his trip, he learned about beef properties, feedlots, state-of-the-art processing facilities and top-tier restaurants. He also engaged in an Australian beef masterclass session where they delved into an array of captivating topics, such as the Meat Standards Australia program, food safety programs and integrity systems, and a plethora of beef cooking inspiration and product showcases.

“We are thrilled to welcome chef Edi Pancamala as the newest member of the Aussie Beef Mates family in Indonesia. His passion for food and culinary expertise will further strengthen our commitment to promoting Australian beef in the Indonesian market. Through this second collaboration as well, MLA and TIQ hope to continue to strengthen relationships with the Indonesian market and drive demand for Australian beef,” said Valeska, MLA regional manager Southeast Asia.

This collaboration comes at a perfect time, coinciding with the Australia Day celebration on Jan. 26. The “Aussie Beef Mates” program serves as a delicious bridge between Indonesian and Australian cultures, allowing people to celebrate not just a national day but also their shared passion for quality food and culinary experiences. It promises to ignite culinary inspiration and elevate Australia’s world-renowned beef to new heights in the vibrant Indonesian market.

Chef Edi created three special dishes for the two-week Australia Day promotion, beef tataki, beef saikoro and beef eye rump steak, available at Swissôtel Jakarta PIK Avenue. In Liberta Kitchen and Bar, chef Andre has created two dishes for a one-month promotion, OP ribs and grilled ribeye. These dishes are a testament to the ongoing collaboration between Aussie Beef Mates and esteemed establishments, bringing the flavors of Australia to the heart of Jakarta's culinary scene.
