n March 25 , chief creative officer of Versace, Donatella Versace, hosted a grand opening event at Palazzo Versace Macau, celebrating the fusion of iconic Versace design with Macau’s traditions at the newly unveiled luxury hotel, marking its first-ever establishment in Asia.
“I am delighted to celebrate the opening of this truly beautiful Palazzo Versace here in Macau with an amazing performance by the incredible John Legend. It is wonderful to bring together so many friends for such a special event to mark the opening. I know that Palazzo Versace will continue this warm welcome for every guest who comes to visit, for many years to come,” Donatella said.
Daisy Ho, managing director of SJM Resorts, similarly expressed her enthusiasm.
"I am profoundly gratified to see our vision for the Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau fully realized with the official grand opening of The Palazzo Versace Macau. Our resort features a modern east-meets-west flair, which is consistently woven throughout the property—a theme that Versace has interpreted with unparalleled finesse. The Grand Lisboa Palace now stands out as home to the only couture-focused designer hotels in Macau, positioning our city as one of the few destinations worldwide offering such ultraluxe branded hospitality experiences. I am thrilled that our efforts are contributing to a new dimension in Macau’s status as a world centre of tourism and leisure, attracting a broader spectrum of discerning travelers from across the globe,” she said.
The grand opening event showcased the hotel’s harmonious blend of Versace’s luxury lifestyle with Macau’s culture, entertainment and cuisine. With a striking dragon installation adorning the hotel’s outdoor pool area, which symbolizes both the Year of the Dragon in 2024 and the hotel’s dragon motif honoring Macau’s culture. Guests enjoyed musical performances by harpist Yu Dan and the Macau Orchestra quintet at the resort’s Jardim Secreto garden before exploring the Versace Signatures exhibition housed in the Grand Pavilion, which featured iconic Atelier Versace and ready-to-wear designs, offering a unique insight into the Versace’s fashion legacy.
The evening culminated in a banquet featuring Chinese cuisine and traditional entertainment, including a drum performance by local talent and a surprise musical appearance by globally renowned musician John Legend. Notable attendees included Daisy, Timothy Fok, Angela Leong and Eric Fok from SJM Resorts, along with Versace global ambassador Rosy Zhao.
Palazzo Versace Macau, Asia’s first Palazzo Versace luxury hotel and the second globally, following Palazzo Versace Dubai, is housed within one of the Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau towers. It boasts 271 rooms and suites designed with an Italian Palazzo aesthetic infused with Versace’s Milanese heritage. The hotel’s unique design incorporates Versace’s iconic motifs alongside symbols from Chinese tradition, such as the chrysanthemum flower and dragon, creating a distinct blend of Italian and Chinese aesthetics. Amenities found across the hotel include two Italian restaurants, a wellness retreat, a personal training studio and indoor and outdoor swimming pools.
