eat and Livestock Australia, in collaboration with Dairy Australia, Seafood Industry Australia, Horticulture Innovation Australia and Wine Australia, invites the people of Indonesia to experience the wonders of Australia at the Raffles Hotel, Jakarta.

The Australian Food and Wine Collaboration Group brings a variety of fresh food products and premium wines from Australia to the Indonesian market through the special event, “Taste the Wonders of Australia”.

“Taste the Wonders of Australia” will offer a unique opportunity for the Indonesian public to explore and enjoy high-quality fresh food and wine from Australia, showcased through a dinner event and various other promotions.

The Australian Food and Wine Collaboration Group is a partnership comprising Meat and Livestock Australia, Dairy Australia, Seafood Industry Australia, Horticulture Innovation Australia and Wine Australia.

As part of a two-year promotional program, this group is targeting four major markets in Asia, Thailand, South Korea, Vietnam and Indonesia, with ongoing activities to elevate the profile of Australian food and wine products and strengthen trade relationships.

"Indonesia is Australia’s largest export partner in Southeast Asia and a long-standing partner and consumer of the Australian red meat industry. Indonesians are increasingly discerning consumers seeking safe, diverse and high-quality products. Australian beef and lamb are highly valued by Indonesian consumers for these qualities. With the growth of the culinary and tourism industries in Indonesia, we expect a greater demand for Australian beef, lamb and other products in the coming years," said Andrew Cox, Meat and Livestock Australia's general manager international markets.

Apart from meat, Indonesians rely on fish as a primary source of high-nutrient animal protein. With a large population and growing domestic consumption, Indonesia is seen as a highly potential market for Australian seafood exporters. Dr. Patrick Hone, CEO of FRDC of Seafood Industry Australia, explained: "76 percent of Indonesian consumers prefer to consume fresh fish, making it a crucial market for Australian salmon, tuna, crabs and shrimp. By 2030, per capita seafood consumption in Indonesia is projected to increase by 13 percent. We aim to expand our offerings to the market with other products like abalone and shellfish."

Australia is renowned for its high-quality dairy products. David Nation, managing director of Dairy Australia, said: "Given Indonesia's climate, there are natural limitations on the amount of dairy products that the country can produce. As close neighbors, we can meet that demand. Our internationally recognized Sustainability Framework guides us in sustainable dairy production. We are proud that our commitment to our community, employees, environment and livestock has made us a leading producer of sustainable dairy in the world, enabling us to supply the Indonesian market with high-nutrition dairy products for a healthier life."

Mila Bristow, general manager, trade and biosecurity R&D of Horticulture Innovation Australia, explained: "As a major producer of quality fruits, nuts, and vegetables, Australia is now the second-largest supplier of horticultural products to Indonesia in terms of value. Australia's proximity to Indonesia means that our products appeal to those who value high quality and freshness. Healthy, fresh, safe and high-quality products are crucial for Indonesia, just as they are for Australian producers. We are proud to partner with our neighboring country to deliver the taste of Australia to them."

Dr. Martin Cole, CEO of Wine Australia, added: "With evolving consumer tastes, Taste the Wonders of Australia gives us the opportunity to engage directly with key trade players and influencers in Indonesia, allowing them to experience the quality and diversity of Australian wine firsthand, and strengthening relationships with wine exporters."

“Taste the Wonders of Australia” for Indonesia will feature a series of activities, including social media activities from March to April 2024, involving five celebrity chefs, Degan Septoadji, Chandra Yudasswara, Vindex Tengker, Vania Wibisono and Martin Praja. Attended by chefs, importers, distributors, sommeliers, retailers and important representatives from the Indonesian and Australian governments, this event will also include educational workshops, media engagements and a dinner showcasing Australian meat, dairy, seafood, horticultural products and wine.
