PNM Manado empowers customers to conserve coral reefs

A

s a coastal village, the residents of Pulisan rely heavily on the coral reef ecosystem along the Pulisan Beach coastline. Coral reefs play a crucial role in the marine ecosystem, serving as habitats and breeding grounds for marine life like fish, and often utilized for their limestone and to make jewelry.

Recognizing the significant benefits of coral reefs, PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) Manado, in collaboration with Adhi Karya and Brantas Abipraya, conducted training for PNM's customers. The training, themed "Business Actors' Consistency in Environmental Conservation" and "Coral Reef Conservation at Pulisan Beach," is part of the company's social and environmental responsibility program.

Eka Pradana Wijaya, Head of PNM Manado, stated that PNM's presence extends beyond stakeholders to the community and surrounding environment.

"Besides raising awareness about marine ecosystem conservation, we also encourage coastal business actors to recognize the entrepreneurial potential in preserved coral reefs," he said on Tuesday at Pulisan Beach.

He added that utilizing this potential could diversify the businesses of ultra-micro customers in North Minahasa. "Pulisan Beach is a Super Priority Tourism Area. We hope to protect the environment and boost the local economy through tourism," he added.

Continuing to empower Indonesian communities, PNM is committed to sustainability through the economic, social and environmental pillars. For this activity, PNM aims to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 14: Life Below Water.
