Geby AO's inspiring journey: From economic struggles to PNM Medan Success

T

he only child of a public transportation driver and a massage therapist, Geby AO is an inspiration to PNM employees and all Indonesians. Geby's journey began after graduating from high school. Due to financial constraints, Geby set aside her dream of attending university and chose to develop other skills, such as sewing, to help her mother.

During the pandemic, Geby and her family experienced a severe economic crisis. This motivated Geby to stay resilient and seek additional employment. In 2021, she joined PNM Mekaar as an account officer (AO) at Medan Denai 2 Unit. This was a turning point for Geby, reigniting her dream of pursuing higher education.

"I am very grateful and happy to now have a career at PNM. Through PNM, I can continue my education with the scholarship I received from The Open University, and I'm now in my fourth semester. I'm also happy to be an inspiration to other AOs. I believe that with determination and sincerity, we can achieve our dreams," Geby said, expressing her gratitude.

Besides managing hundreds of clients each week as a PNM Mekaar AO, Geby has a talent for singing. Her beautiful voice captivated thousands during PNM's 25th anniversary celebration in Jakarta. She participated in the PNM Star Competition, part of the 25th anniversary program showcasing talents like singing, dancing and martial arts.

Out of 270 PNM participants, Geby's exceptional voice earned her first place in the finals. This achievement added to her remarkable career journey.

"We will appreciate and provide opportunities for PNM's best talent to enhance their skills. Recognition of talented PNM employees will be given through training and events to further develop their potential. We hope this appreciation will boost the positive performance of both the company and all PNM employees. We will maintain this to keep our collective hopes alive," said Arief Mulyadi, president director of PT PNM.

PNM is a financing and mentoring institution for underprivileged women in Indonesia through the ultra-micro business sector. PNM not only provides business capital but also various types of training to improve product quality. PNM has 15.2 million clients across Indonesia.
