n celebrating its 48-year journey, PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) hosted a series of special events themed "Strengthening the Wing to Fly Higher".

The aerospace company marked this milestone through activities, such as interdivisional sports tournaments, the inauguration of the DI Futsal Arena, a small and medium enterprise (SME) bazaar and exhibition, DI Edutainment tickets with a promotional discount of 48 percent and the Runtainment fun run.

It also organized a variety of charity events as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR), including its annual blood drive on Aug. 13-15, 2024 at the PTDI Training Center in Bandung, West Java. This corporate event, which is highly appreciated by the local branch of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), attracted 161 PTDI employees who donated their blood.

"At the age of 48 years, we are strengthening our wings to fly higher. Besides being aggressive in business, we are also working to solidify our internal team to stay motivated in achieving our company’s targets,” said PTDI president director Gita Amperiawan.

“Our focus is not only on growing our business, but also on ensuring that the company continues to benefit surrounding communities through sustainable CSR activities," he said.

Runtainment fun run

On Aug. 24, PTDI held Runtainment, a 4-kilometer fun run in the PTDI production compound that attracted over 500 participants, including PTDI directors, management and employees as well as several invited guests, including from renowned running communities in Bandung. The fun run started at the PKSN Building and traversed the PTDI compound, passing several hangars.

PTDI’s Runtainment offered a unique experience for participants as they ran across a runway, surrounded by PTDI-made aircraft in the static display area complemented by green spaces. In addition to its vast area, the compound is free of motorized vehicles, which ensures high safety and minimal air pollution for runners.

With the growing public interest in running, the Runtainment event to mark PTDI’s 48th anniversary also kicked off the company’s Bandung compound as a potential route for public races. Accompanied by guides from IAe Runners, PTDI's running community, participants were introduced to various aviation products and the company’s history, as well as the development of Indonesia's aerospace industry.

"This will be one of the most exciting activities involving the community to broaden education in aerospace," said Gita.

In line with the theme, "Strengthening the Wing to Fly Higher", PTDI’s 48th anniversary celebration also served as an occasion to reignite the company’s spirit, energy and collective determination to achieve its vision to become the market leader in medium and light turboprop aircraft and a benchmark for aerospace companies in the Asia-Pacific.

"This Runtainment event is not just a joint sports activity, but also a symbol of the spirit of togetherness we foster to achieve greater accomplishments in the future," Gita said.

The 48th anniversary celebrations also included the inauguration of the DI Futsal Arena with Umuh Muchtar, a prominent community figure in West Java and a commissioner of Bandung-based soccer club Persib. Gita and Umuh officially opened the new outdoor sports facility with a symbolic first kick, followed by a friendly match between Persib and the PTDI Baporseni futsal team.

Gita said building the DI Futsal Arena was part of PTDI's commitment to both the community and the environment in its area of operations. Aside from PTDI employees, the facility would be available for free to members of the surrounding community as well as students from nearby schools.

"We also plan to develop other sports facilities, such as basketball, badminton and tennis courts, as a testament to my love for sports," said Umuh Muchtar, a prominent figure in West Java.

In marking its 48th anniversary, PTDI also presented awards to several individuals in recognition of their support for the company’s CSR programs. Those awarded for their collaborative efforts included Panjalu village head Yuyus Surya Adinegara, acting Ciamis regent Engkus Sutisna, Pasundan University (Unpas) rector Azhar Affandi, Paguyuban Pasundan chairman Didi Turmudzi and Persib commissioner Umuh Muchtar.

Through its collaboration with Unpas, PTDI distributed sacha inchi (Plukenetia volubilis) seedlings to several nearby villages as part of an environmental initiative that aims to create a comfortable, living green space for surrounding communities.

This positive occasion also served as a strategic momentum for strengthening and deepening PTDI’s CSR partnerships with the Industry Ministry, the National Food Agency, Paguyuban Pasundan and Unpas, through the signing of a memorandum of understanding on Synergizing Food Security and New Renewable Energy via Sorghum.
