n an effort to enhance the welfare of coastal communities, PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM), through its PNM Peduli program, has partnered with PT Asuransi Jasa Indonesia (JASINDO) to plant 2,000 mangrove trees in Pasir village, West Kalimantan. PNM has also collaborated with PT Jaminan Kredit Indonesia (JAMKRINDO) to carry out coral reef conservation activities, planting 200 coral seedlings on Lemukutan Island, West Kalimantan.

These initiatives align with the company's commitment to its economic, social and environmental development pillars. This focus is also central to PNM's efforts to support the achievement of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Engaging with local nature enthusiasts, PNM's corporate secretary, L. Dodot Patria Ary, expressed hopes that these activities will broaden public awareness about the importance of sustaining mangrove ecosystems and coral reefs, which have significant economic functions.

“Mangrove trees and coral reefs can boost the local economy by creating potential business opportunities. Both can increase fish populations, which means coastal communities can catch and sell more fish, thus improving their income,” Dodot explained.

Mangroves and coral reefs play a crucial role in maintaining healthy coastal ecosystems. Through the PNM Peduli program, PNM aims to support local communities in creating job opportunities and fostering local economies through eco-tourism.

“The more we plant, the better the impact on the environment and the local economy. This is something we will continue to promote, in addition to demonstrating PNM’s commitment to marine ecosystem conservation,” he added.

PNM remains dedicated to enriching the lives of coastal communities and leaving behind a sustainable environmental legacy for future generations.
