LamiPak Indonesia previews new eco-friendly packaging product at Propak Indonesia 2024 Acting secretary-general of the Agriculture Ministry Ali Jamil visits the LamiPak Indonesia booth after opening the Propak exhibition.

P

T Lami Packaging Indonesia (LamiPak Indonesia) introduced its eco-friendly aseptic packaging products at the international Propak Exhibition held at JI-EXPO, Jakarta on Sept. 4. This global-scale event served as a platform for packaging industry players to showcase various technological innovations and product advancements to stakeholders. The exhibition, which adopted the theme "From Farm to Table," ran until Sept. 6.

The event was inaugurated by the acting secretary-general of the Agriculture Ministry Ali Jamil. In his opening remarks, Ali Jamil emphasized that the agricultural sector remained a primary focus of the government in safeguarding national food security. The increased food budget in the 2025 Draft State Budget to Rp 124.4 trillion underscores the government’s commitment and support for food productivity.

"Digital ecosystems are key to ensuring food security, and the implementation of Industry 4.0 technology in the food industry is the right strategy to address today’s agricultural challenges. A digitally integrated agricultural system can enhance efficiency, productivity and sustainability in production processes, while also providing a competitive edge for industry players," said Ali Jamil.

After opening the exhibition Ali Jamil visited the booth of LamiPak Indonesia. LamiPak is the first aseptic packaging producer in Indonesia using carton-based materials that implements modern and eco-friendly packaging technologies.

LamiPak’s innovative aseptic packaging products are currently the first in the aseptic industry to be certified with BRC, FSSC 22000, HALAL, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, PEFC and FSC certifications, demonstrating the company’s commitment to global standards of quality and food safety. These certifications, recognized internationally, also reflect LamiPak’s dedication to sustainable sourcing practices.

During the event, LamiPak Indonesia also introduced its latest aseptic packaging product, “LamiSleeve,” a new category for the company, which is set to be commercially launched at the end of 2024. This initiative aims to raise awareness and increase the company's future volume.

According to a review by Exactitude Consultancy, the sustainable packaging market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 7.3 percent from 2020 to 2029, reaching US$404.7 billion by 2029. Based on the materials used, the sustainable packaging market is segmented into paper, metal, glass and plastic, with paper expected to dominate the global market during this period.

Throughout the three-day event, LamiPak’s booth attracted approximately 800 visitors, including government officials, a delegation from Malaysia, domestic clients, private companies, non-governmental organizations and university students from prestigious institutions in the Greater Jakarta area, such as IPB University. The students showed great enthusiasm in visiting LamiPak’s booth.

As part of the exhibition, attendees also had the opportunity to participate in various conferences and seminars, including the Drinktech Conference and Indonesia Packaging Forum. Featuring local and international experts, these events addressed the theme "Sustainable Packaging Design Revolution: Global & Local Trends, Solutions, and Development Pathways." The conferences, held on Sept. 5 and 6, were open to the public.
