eberapa organisasi jurnalis dan anggota masyarakat telah menentang rancangan undang-undang (RUU) penyiaran. RUU tersebut mereka anggap akan mengekang kebebasan pers melalui ketentuan-ketentuan yang tidak jelas dan bermasalah. Salah satu yang mereka khawatirkan adalah peraturan yang dapat membatasi penyiaran produk jurnalisme investigatif.

RUU tersebut diusulkan pada 2020, oleh para anggota parlemen di Komisi I Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat yang membidangi komunikasi dan informasi, pertahanan, intelijen dan urusan luar negeri. RUU diselesaikan pada Oktober tahun lalu, tetapi sebagian besar tidak diketahui publik.

RUU ini kembali mencuat setelah dibahas di Badan Legislasi (Baleg) DPR pada awal tahun ini. Draf tersebut sedikit diubah pada 27 Maret.

Tujuan RUU adalah merevisi Undang-Undang Penyiaran tahun 2002. UU yang lama dinilai tidak lagi relevan seiring dengan bermunculannya platform media baru.

Namun rancangan terbaru RUU tersebut mendapat kecaman luas. Sebabnya, terdapat pasal-pasal yang dapat mengancam kebebasan pers, khususnya Pasal 50B ayat 2 (c), yang melarang penyiaran eksklusif konten jurnalisme investigatif.

Aliansi Jurnalis Independen (AJI) menilai ketentuan tersebut sangat tidak jelas dan “membingungkan”.
