entral Java Police have named a 22-year-old Magelang resident a suspect for murder after his parents and older sister were discovered dead by apparent poisoning.

The provincial police’s head of criminal investigation, Sr. Comr. Djuhandani Rahardjo Puro, said the suspect had confessed to the crime on Tuesday, following the discovery of the deaths on Monday.

“We are still investigating the case. We have named him as a suspect based on his admission and evidence,” Djuhandani said on Tuesday.

He added that the police were waiting for a forensic laboratory test to verify that the victims were poisoned and determine which poison was used.

The victims, a 58-year-old man, his 54-year-old wife and their 25-year-old daughter were found lying on the bathroom floor of their house in the village of Mertoyudan by local residents.

Police said the suspect felt he had been under pressure to take care of the family. The suspect’s father was a retired civil servant. (dre)
