he Education, Culture, Research and Technology Ministry has launched a report on early childhood education centers as part of a larger effort to strengthen the policies introduced by minister Nadiem Makarim before the change of government in October.
Since his appointment to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s second-term cabinet, Nadiem has rolled out a number of policies under his flagship Merdeka Belajar (freedom to learn) program, which aims to develop more flexible and effective methods for the national education system.
The program’s policies include replacing the national exams (UN) with the new National Assessment (AN) and providing schools with the alternative Kurikulum Merdeka (freedom curriculum). The optional program has been widely adopted by schools.
The latest policy introduced by the entrepreneur-turned-minister was an education report for early childhood education centers across the country. The education ministry previously launched a similar platform for elementary and high schools.

Speaking at the report’s launch event on Tuesday, Nadiem lauded it as a means to help schools and regional administrations assess their educational strengths and weaknesses and determine priorities for improvement.
“Improving education requires support and collaboration from all parties, including local administrators, schools and even parents, so that the improvements can be made more optimally,” the minister said.
