People wanting to attend the planned Idul Fitri celebration on Wednesday must wear shoes and no jeans, the Palace says.
resident Joko “Jokowi” Widodo will host an Idul Fitri celebration on Wednesday, opening the doors of the State Palace for a get-together with government officials and the general public amid the hustle and bustle of the political year.
The Presidential Secretariat head of protocol bureau Yusuf Permana said the Idul Fitri “open house” is planned for Wednesday starting on 9 a.m. after the President performs Idul Fitri prayers, scheduled at the Istiqlal Mosque in Central Jakarta.
“The open house will be held without invitation so state officials and the public can come straight away [to the State Palace]. Of course [everyone] must follow the Palace protocol, but we are in a very flexible mode given that Idul Fitri is a day of joy and forgiveness,” Yusuf said on Monday, Kompas.id reported.
The Palace is still planning what time the event will end, Yusuf added.
There will be no specific dress code for the public wanting to attend the event, as long as they dress properly. Wear shoes and no jeans, Yusuf said.

The event will be the first to be held again after Jokowi suspended Palace open house for four years since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. The last time Jokowi hosted an Idul Fitri celebration for the public was in 2019, which saw hundreds of people line up from the National Monument (Monas) to get into the nearby Palace.
Jokowi himself on Monday told reporters that he would celebrate Idul Fitri in Jakarta.
This year's open house will also be Jokowi's last. He will leave office in October, when his successor is inaugurated after all disputes in the February presidential and legislative elections are settled at the Constitutional Court.
While the government's announcement of when this year’s Idul Fitri falls is not due until Tuesday night, most people expect that it will fall on Wednesday.
When Idul Fitri falls depends on the sighting of the moon. (alf)
