ity-owned public transportation company PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) launched a new application on Wednesday promising accurate real-time bus tracking for the Transjakarta bus rapid transit (BRT) system and Mikrotrans minivans

Transjakarta president director Welfizon Yuza said the accuracy of real-time bus tracking provided by the new application, dubbed TJ: Transjakarta, has reached 95 percent. Customers can now plan their trips more efficiently as they are presented several route options based upon speed and cost. The app can also be used for purchasing tickets.

Currently the new app only accepts payments via Astrapay, a mobile-based payment service by PT Astra Digital Arta, a subsidiary of PT Astra International, one of Indonesia’s largest diversified conglomerates.

Welfizon said the Transjakarta internal team worked for three months to build the new application and would continue the development of additional features based upon user feedback and stakeholder input.

The new application is a replacement for the Tije application, which provided transfer tickets, digital QR ticketing and smart assistance.

During Wednesday’s launch event, the company also announced that it received one vehicle from PT Toyota-Astra Motor as a gesture of corporate social responsibility (CSR).
