The Central Java General Elections Commission (KPU) has announced the schedule for three gubernatorial election debates ahead of the Nov. 27 voting day.
Akmaliyah, a provincial KPU commissioner, said Sunday that the first debate is scheduled to take place on Oct. 30 at the Marina Convention Center, the second debate will be held on Nov. 10 at MAC Majapahit and the final one will be held on Nov. 20 at the Muladi Dome in the Diponegoro University complex.
Akmaliyah said that the KPU has appointed a drafting team to prepare for the debates.
The race for Central Java governor will see fierce competition between a former military chief on the ticket of the largest party in the province and a strongly backed former provincial police chief who has been riding on the popularity of former president Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.
