usinessman Adelin Lis has been freed from Tanjung Gusta Penitentiary with parole after paying restitution fees from the verdict on his illegal logging case in multiple currencies, Rp 105.85 billion (US$6.44 million) and more than $2.93 million.
However, Adelin must make a weekly visit to the Medan Prosecutor’s Office to report on his whereabouts.
Head of intelligence section at the Medan Prosecutor’s Office, Dapot Siagian, said that convict Adelin was freed on Sept. 6. Two days later he visited the prosecutor’s office for his weekly report.
Dapot said Adelin must visit the prosecutor’s office weekly because he was released with parole.
“Convict Adelin Lis must report weekly until the end of his sentence,” he told The Jakarta Post on Wednesday.
When asked how long Adelin must make the weekly visit, Dapot said for the next four years.
He added that prosecutors would still monitor Adelin during his parole and he could not go outside of town without notifying the prosecutors.
