etectives from the North Sumatra Police General Crimes Directorate (Ditreskrimum) have named Megawati Zebua, a provincial legislative council (DPRD) member from the Golkar Party faction, a suspect in the alleged assault of a Wings Air flight attendant Lidya Christine.

North Sumatra Police spokeswoman Adj. Sr. Comr. Siti Rohani said that suspect MZ was named after detectives from Ditreskrimum’s Children, Juvenile and Women Sub-directorate conducted a case exposé.

The case exposé found that MZ assaulted Lidya while onboard an aircraft at Binaka Airport in Gunungsitoli, Nias regency, on April 13. MZ, however, has not been detained.

“The dossier on suspect MZ has been submitted to prosecutors so the trial process can be held soon at the court,” Rohani told reporters at the North Sumatra Police headquarters on Thursday.

She said that before being named a suspect, detectives had conducted mediation efforts as requested by Megawati but failed to reach an agreement. So, detectives continued the legal process to name the suspect.
