Oscar winner Brie Larson in talks to play ‘Captain Marvel’: Report

span style="line-height: 20.8px;">Fresh from nabbing the Best Actress award in this year’s Oscars, Brie Larson reportedly has her sights set on a “marvelous” new role.
The 26-year-old American actress is rumored to be in early talks to play the iconic comic book character Captain Marvel, according to a report from Variety.
Discussions with Marvel brass are still in the early stages, but the Marvel studio is reportedly “leaning heavily” toward casting Larson due to her strong acting pedigree.
No director is currently on board for the film, but Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige claimed that he had always planned to have an actress lined up early, with the idea of possibly introducing her in one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s (MCU) upcoming films before her solo movie debuts.
“You’ll have a filmmaker and cast by the summer,” Feige was quoted as saying in the report. “Maybe before. Maybe after. Filmmaker announcement first.”
Meanwhile, “Inside Out” writers Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman are currently producing the script for the heroine’s back story, which follows the venture of Carol Danvers, an air force pilot whose DNA is fused with that of an alien during an accident.

The resulting alteration imbues her with strength, energy project and flight.
MCU fans have been clamoring for the character’s casting for sometime now, due to her popularity as the first female Marvel superhero to have a solo movie.
Larson is perfectly suited for the role due to her youth—as the studio is still looking to improve their ongoing list of growing superhero franchises.
While mostly playing second fiddle in mainstream films like “Scott Pilgrim vs the World” and “21 Jumpstreet” franchise, she has risen in recent years by headlining prestige films such as “Room” and “The Glass Castle,” which is currently still in production.
The “Captain Marvel” solo venture is expected to invade theaters sometime in 2019.
