Places to clear your mind amid Jakarta’s busy traffic You may not be able to avoid traffic jams in Jakarta, but you can visit these places to hang out or enjoy the food while you wait for the roads to clear. (instagram.com/pamanjoe/-)

eavy traffic has always been one of the things that makes Jakarta what it is today. It’s a problem and we have been trying to fix it, but it’s always there.

Most of the time, especially during emergencies, dealing with the traffic is just something that you have to deal with and you don’t have any choice apart from being patient. But sometimes, it is best to just choose to be somewhere else and wait until it gets better.

These places can help you get through the wait, either for just a cup of coffee or perhaps a nice meal.

Loewy

There are many locations with bad traffic in Jakarta, and Mega Kuningan is one them. Fortunately, Loewy has everything to make you comfortable before heading onto the streets again. Good vibe, good food; their desserts are also worth a try.

If you're a coffee lover, visiting Common Grounds in Citywalk Sudirman is a good idea. This place serves a very good coffee alongside great choices of finger foods. But if it's undeniably time for dinner, its savory menu won't disappoint either.

Hard Rock Café

Fired up for some rock n roll? Hard Rock Cafe is not just about great decoration, but also entertainment and food. Another good things about this place is its regular event “I Love Monday”, which will ensure you truly love your Monday by boosting your spirit with live music performances.

Paul

Paul Patisserie is famous in big cities all around the world and it has also become a favorite in Jakarta. The French bakery is a good option if you’re craving pastries and a cup of coffee and mellowing your mood before getting back on the road home.

Odysseia

Just across from Paul Patisserie is another oasis in the middle of Jakarta's traffic: Odysseia. This place offers a nice, chilled vibe in the middle of the SCBD area. With a green setting and comfortable seats, you couldn't ask for more from a place in which to hide from the traffic.

Jimbaran Outdoor Lounge

You'll be surprised when you visit Jimbaran Outdoor Lounge for the first time as you wouldn't have guessed that such paradise exists in the middle of the busy area of Sudirman. Alongside the slow music playing in the background, the sound of the water will surround you and create its own paradise-like mood.

The Awan Lounge

Last but not least, a rooftop bar. It feels like inhaling a different air when you look down on the streets from the top, giving you a sense of relaxation. With a great selection of drinks, it makes sense that the Awan Lounge is more affordable than most rooftop bars in Jakarta. (kes)
