otorious for taking part of the “alt-right” movement, a conservative writer and tech editor at Breitbart.com, Milo Yiannopoulos, has gotten permanently banned from the Twitter microblogging site after leading a stream of offensive comments and rude memes against the Ghostbusters star Leslie Jones.
Mononymously called Milo, the writer, who is also known for his voice in #Gamergate, repeatedly bashes movements such as feminism and Black Lives Matter. His account @Nero has previously been unverified and temporarily suspended.
His tweet, calling Jones' work terrible, was a violation of Twitter’s rules against the targeted abuse of specific users as it was said to have lead the harrassment campaign against the actress. Following the hateful tweets, Jones said she was "in a personal hell" and called on the company to do more to eradicate abuse.
Milo, apparently offended by his permanent ban, responded via his company’s website: “With the cowardly suspension of my account, Twitter has confirmed itself as a safe space for Muslim terrorists and Black Lives Matter extremists, but a no-go zone for conservatives. Twitter is holding me responsible for the actions of fans and trolls using the special pretzel logic of the left. Where are the Twitter police when Justin Bieber’s fans cut themselves on his behalf?"(jam/kes)
