ocal film soundtracks were performed at the seventh Simfoni untuk Bangsa (Symphony for the Nation) concert by the Resonanz Music Studio Orchestra held at Taman Ismail Marzuki in Central Jakarta on Saturday.

Led by renowned conductor Avip Priatna, the songs were taken from films such as Enam Djam di Jogja (Six Hours in Yogyakarta) from 1951, Soekarno (2015), Garuda di Dadaku (Garuda on My Chest) from 2009, Tiga Dara (Three Ladies) from 1956, Begadang (Staying Up Late) from 1978, Petualangan Sherina (Sherina's Adventures) of 2000, Mana Tahan (Couldn't Hold It Any Longer) of 1979 and Badai Pasti Berlalu (Storm Will Pass) from 1977. The orchestra also performed the national anthem to commemorate Independence Day.

The notable Resonanz Children’s Choir provided a cheerful touch, along with the Jakarta Concert Orchestra and Batavia Madrigal Singers. While performing the song Begadang from the film of the same title and Andeca Andeci from Warkop DKI’s Mana Tahan, the latter offered a comic appearance that generated loud applause from the audience.

“It was a surprise for me when they performed a lot of film soundtrack songs,” said audience member Stevie, 27. “All of them were cool and amusing, especially when they performed [songs from] Warkop [DKI] and Begadang.”

“This year we brought Indonesian film soundtracks from different eras because music is one of the elements of art that is essential in order to get the right mood within a scene,” said Avip Priatna.
