In a post by Lindsey Shephard, Facebook Messenger’s marketing head, she said Facebook developed an adorable tribute to the legendary sci-fi franchise in its 50th anniversary. “When we caught the wind that Star Trek would be celebrating 50 years this month, it got our wheels turning. We wanted to mark this fun, nostalgic moment and help the passionate community of Star Trek fans celebrate in some unique ways on Facebook,” she wrote in her post on blog site Medium.
The five reaction stickers are Spock’s iconic Vulcan salute, Kirk (Haha), Spock (Wow), Geordi (Sad) and Klingon (Angry).
