egendary British singer Morrissey mesmerized fans during his performance Wednesday night in Jakarta. Morrissey used his concert to share his message through songs and videos.

Following the singer's request, food vendors selling animal products were prohibited in the venue. Concert goers enjoyed fresh air thanks to the ban on cigarettes. A number of fans were seen bringing small flower bouquets to present to Morrissey.  However, the outdoor venue worried some audience members that they might slip and fall.

"The venue is damp, which could actually could be fixed," said singer-actor Eddi Brokoli. "I expect him to bring some of his popular tracks, such as 'Suedehead,' 'Alma Matters' and other songs by The Smiths."

Following a series of videos, Morrissey appeared on stage, wearing a blue shirt and belt. "My heart, my heart Jakarta," he cried out before opening the concert with "Suedehead"

"Very nice," Morrissey praised the audience who sang along during "Alma Matters". "I am incredibly happy," he said before continuing the concert with "Everyday is like Sunday". "Thank you for having me."

The singer asked a question of the audience, "Do you like Donald Trump?" then responded, "I'm so surprised." Morrissey performed the song from his latest album, "World Peace is None of your Business".

"Ganglord" was accompanied by montages of violent acts on the giant screen on stage. The graphic video silenced the audience, who watched quietly until the song finished.

The air thickened with nostalgia as Morrissey performed his most popular songs, such as "Kiss Me a Lot," "Let Me Kiss You," "You're the one for me, Fatty," "Jack The Ripper" and other hit tracks that had fans singing at the top of their lungs.

"I don't know what the hell you’re saying, but it's very passionate," he said laughing during the change of the tracks. However, the light and friendly atmosphere suddenly changed.

"Please don't kill anything," he said to the fans, prior to performing the song "Meat is Murder". Uncensored video footage of animal cruelty accompanied the performance, shocking unsuspecting fans. The song finished dramatically as the screen turned black and two sentences appeared: "Apa alasanmu sekarang? Daging adalah pembunuhan." (What’s your reason now? Meat is murder).

Morrissey then exited the stage and never returned although fans demanded an encore. Unsatisfied fans expressed their disappointment. Vicky, an audience member from England who had seen Morrissey twice in the UK said, "This was not his best performance. He was not as good as the other times I've seen him."

Morrissey had stated his interest in returning to Jakarta several years ago. Quoted by a fan site in January 2014, Morrissey urged other singers and bands to go to Jakarta to perform because it is “the heart of the new world”.

“I’ve begged to go back [to Jakarta]. I was never happier than while in Jakarta,” he said. “People always talk about Los Angeles as my true family, but Jakarta puts Los Angeles in a Sara Lee trance, which, when you consider how much I love Los Angeles, certainly says something. It was great to have a new slice of life, and I will never forget the audience.”

Before beginning his solo career, Morrissey was the frontman of British band The Smiths, which lasted for five years, from 1982 to 1987. He is a vegan as well as an animal rights activist who often collaborates with PETA.

Aside from being a musician, Morrissey made his writing debut with a novel titled List of the Lost. Meanwhile, as part of his international tour, Morrissey visited the US, Japan, China and now Indonesia. He will continue the tour to other countries in Asia and Australia before returning to the US.
